You Are My Strong Tower!

Satan really knows how to hit hard, especially when things are going really well.  This kids at school have been doing really well lately.  I keep saying over and over how impressed I am with my oldest group despite my failings as a teacher.

Personally though, I’ve just been feeling really alone, wanting to go home.  Our internet is even worse than before, if that’s even possible.  It’s just been really hard and I’ve been feeling really sorry for myself.  As I was having a personal pity party, I happened to open my Bible to Numbers, where the Israelites were in the desert after escaping Egypt.  They had complaint after complaint, followed by more complaints, even after God had done so many miraculous things in their lives.  I knew I had to keep reading, even if I knew I didn’t wanna hear it.  How many amazing things has God done in my life and yet I’m still extremely selfish and full of doubt?    How easy it is to forget the blessings God has poured out on us in the face of a trial.  Then, right after reading a few chapters and wiping the tear drops off the pages, Kutless’ song, Strong Tower, started playing.  Here are some of the lyrics that were so fitting, “When I wander through the desert, and I’m longing for my home…I’m tired and all alone; it seems like I’ve lost my way…[THANKFULLY IT CONTINUES!]…You are my strong tower, shelter over me…fortress when I’m weak…Your face is all I seek…you’re my refuge and my hope!”

It also cheered me up to look at the following pictures…gosh I love these kids!!!

One of my students, Jony, passed out Friday night and was unresponsive for 10-15 minutes.  He said he had a vision that some bad guys were calling him over to them, but he didn’t go, and then they were beating up his grandfather, who died last year.  He didn’t know what to do.  Friday in school, we were talking about choosing the right path and those paths lead to very different futures.  I think there’s definitely some spiritual warfare going on in Jony’s life.  I can see so much potential in him and am so proud of how far he has come.  We used to have to fight with him to come to school, and now he is one of the top students.  He’s now in the hospital and his legs are in a lot of pain and he was struggling to walk.  He really had to concentrate on what he was doing.  Pray that he will be healed and that God will continue guiding his steps!

Also, pray for one of the neighborhood kids, Dengue.  He’s gotten himself into some trouble.  It’s just really disappointing to see someone continually choosing the wrong path.

Still trying to give thanks in all situations.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.  In all thy ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

Keep praying!  We have a team coming Monday!
